The Poisoned Well
A worried village elder rushes to meet you at the edge of town.
“Adventurer! Please help! Our only well in town has been poisoned,” she says, her voice trembling. “No one knows who did it, the children are crying of thirst, the livestock refuse to drink, and every bucket pulled from the well has a foul and dark stain. There not be another spring for miles. We have enough clean water to last until sunrise… after that, the village will have nothing left.”
The village square has fallen silent. Families gather around the well, hoping someone has an answer before the last barrels of clean water run dry.
