The crunch of footsteps. The roar of a monster. The quiet ambience before chaos. These games used sound to build entire worlds around you. Which nominated game absolutely blew you away with its audio experience? And if none of these, where did you experience euphony this year in gaming?
I am giving this to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Audio design is extensive, but when incorporating score, dramatic, and emotional cues, it goes to this game.
Death Stranding 2 does it well too, it is incredibly atmospheric, but it doesn’t hit as many notes as CO:E33.
There are two others on the list that is close contenders. However, a multiplayer game, especially one that is competive, is designed to be more accurate. Those accuracies takes away the stage, though arguably it is more realistic.
