How do you balance FPS and visual quality in modern games?

I’ve been experimenting with different settings in modern games and noticed that finding the right balance between performance and visual quality is not always straightforward.
In some cases, increasing settings improves visuals a lot but causes noticeable FPS drops, while lowering everything makes the game smoother but less immersive. Since AMD hardware is designed to optimize both performance and visual experience, I’m curious how others approach this.
Do you prioritize higher FPS for smoother gameplay, or do you try to keep visuals high and accept some performance trade-offs? Also, do you rely more on features like upscaling (FSR) or manual tweaking of individual settings?
