Looking for Recommendations: Which FIFA Game Should I Get for My 9-Year-Old on Xbox?

Hi everyone!

I’m trying to choose the best FIFA (or EA Sports FC) game for my 9-year-old son on Xbox, and I wanted to get some recommendations from you. There are quite a few versions available (from older FIFA titles to the newer EA Sports FC releases) and I’m not sure which one offers the best mix of fun, value, and kid-friendly gameplay.

A few questions I’m hoping you can help with:

  1. Best value on Xbox right now:
    Are older FIFA titles still great for kids, or is the newest EA Sports FC version worth the jump?

  2. Kid-friendly gameplay:
    Is any particular yearly release easier for younger players to pick up? Big differences in controls or difficulty across versions?

  3. Fun modes for a 9-year-old:
    He is planning to play it with his best friend so local multi-player is a must.

  4. Other tips:
    Parental controls, microtransaction settings, or suggestions for a kid’s first soccer game are all welcome.

Honestly speaking, get the cheapest EA 24+. They play rougly the same. Bear in mind that EA tends to turn off servers 3 after years, so if you buy 24 now, you most likely won’t play online after Oct 2026. EA 25 should last until 2027 and 26 until 2028.
