Movies: Whatcha watching lately?

For horror fans, two new good ones in the genre:

Weapons - Great premise and constant eerie feeling.
Together - Body horror movie with some gnarly jump scares.

What have you seen lately and what would you recommend?

Haven’t seen Together yet, but loved Weapons! Excited for Zach Cregger’s adaption of Resident Evil in the future, too.

A few I’d recommend:

  • Frankenstein (Guillermo del Toro’s) - Not straight horror, but I’m a fan of del Toro’s work and this was great. Fairly long, though!
  • Bring Her Back - A particular scene in this REALLY got me. From the dude’s who made ā€œTalk to Meā€.
  • IT: Welcome to Derry (Not a movie, but TV series!) - I’m just a fan of IT (Loved the book). If you liked the movies, this is a fun series so far.

Ones I’m keeping an eye on:

  • Keeper
  • Predator Badlands

Always looking for recs myself! Thanks for kicking this off.

Watched the 1st epidode of IT and holy crap…. That first scene/intro in the car… I wont spoil. I’m not entirely sure all teh child actors are up to snuff. I can feel some of the rigidness of a less than stellar cast. But oh boy does the atmosphere completely make up for it.

First 2 Episodes of PLURIBUS are really great, and it being made by Vince Gilligan (known for Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) gives me confidence to say that the whole show will be worth watching!
Kind of a weird scifi-catastrophe-show. Very intriguing!

I would recommend two of em…one is called freaks..it’s less horror more thriller.

..and …8 legged freaks..the opposite of freaks…it’s got spiders

And finally for those who crave having their mind twisted like a wet sponge… Tusk.

The story of a podcaster who experienced a truly life changing event.

@Crator I don’t watch movies much, so I can’t really comment on those titles personally. I mostly spend my free time playing football video games, which is kind of my way of getting into a story or action without sitting through a film. I enjoy the strategy, the team management, and the competitive matches—it gives me a similar adrenaline rush that horror movies might give others with scares and tension. That said, I can appreciate why horror fans love films like Weapons or Together, with their eerie atmosphere and jump scares. For me, though, I usually stick to virtual games where I can control the action instead of watching it unfold. It’s interesting to hear what others are watching, though, because maybe one day I’ll give one a try—but for now, it’s all about football games for me!
