Ryzen 7 9800X3D and DDR5

Hello, everyone! I just joined the AMD family with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. I just purchased 32GB of DDR5, but I’m afraid I might have made a mistake with the DDR5. I’m looking for some help to reassure me about my purchase.

I bought the G.Skill 2x16GB DDR5-6000 (F5-6000J3636F16GX2-FX5).
I’m a little lost as this is my first time with AMD after 20 years with Intel/Nvidia.

That DDR5 set sounds fine, and I bet it was expensive too. Memory prices have in some cases tripled from a year ago. Do you have it installed and running now? Have you tried to enable AMD EXPO in the motherboard BIOS settings?

Yea 6000 M/Ts isnt too bad with DDR5. You should be good. ^ yea using AMD Expo or the right profile to use your max M/Ts is recommended.

From my personal experience with AM5 systems, you made a good choice with your RAM option. For some time I have only bought G.Skill and ADATA (XPG) RAM. Reliable, more accessible (when it still was), and purrs all the way with EXPO enabled.

Nothing wrong with your kit. I know many who are using G.Skill Flare X5. It also has very good RAM clearance when using an air cooler. It will last you a very long time. I don’t think consumers will adopt DDR6, any time soon, when it eventually arrives.

I also won’t be concerned with it being CL36. I have a CL30 kit, and another person with a CL36 kit are getting results very close to mine during long gaming sessions.

Be happy, have a good time. I mean, you have a 9800X3D! It is heaven-made silicon.
