Subject: Poor Performance / Low FPS in Hunt: Showdown with 7900XTX + 7800X3D

Hi everyone,

I’ve noticed disappointing frame rates in Hunt: Showdown with my setup compared to what I’ve seen in other videos featuring similar or even lower-tier hardware.

My System:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
  • RAM: 32GB (16GB x 2) DDR5 @ 6000MHz, CL32
  • Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING A620M-PLUS WIFI
  • PSU: 850W
  • OS: Windows 10 Pro 22H2
  • GPU Driver: Adrenalin 25.6.1 (Latest)
  • Game Version: 2.4 (Latest)

Testing Methodology & Settings:

  • Game API: Unknown (DX11, DX12, or Vulkan). The game appears not to allow players to manually change this (this point is unclear).
  • Graphics Settings: Mostly set to Low .
  • Upscaling: FSR/DLSS is OFF for all tests.
  • Test Scene: Recorded the maximum FPS at the same location in the Shooting Range, chosen for its relative complexity.
  • Resolutions Tested: 1080p, 1440p, 2160p (4K).

Results (Max FPS):

  • 1080p: ~230 FPS
  • 1440p: ~200 FPS
  • 2160p (4K): ~130 FPS

The Issue / Confusion:

  1. Compared to Similar Tier Cards: Other GPUs in the same performance class, like the NVIDIA “5070 Ti” (Note: Likely a typo, possibly meant 4070 Ti or similar?) or AMD “9070 XT” (Note: Likely a typo, possibly meant 7900 XT?), achieve significantly higher FPS across all resolutions. For example, both reportedly get around 190 FPS at 2160p with the same Low settings. My 7900 XTX is far behind at 130 FPS.
  2. Compared to Lower Tier AMD Card: Even more perplexing, I’ve seen benchmarks where an RX 7800 XT achieves frame rates roughly equal to my 7900 XTX at 1440p with identical Low settings. This suggests something is specifically wrong with my 7900 XTX performance in this game.

My Concern:
I’m very concerned and frustrated by this. I’m trying to figure out:

  • Is there a potential hardware issue with my specific 7900 XTX?
  • Or is this a case where Hunt: Showdown simply has poor optimization specifically for the 7900 XTX ?

Has anyone else experienced similar performance with a 7900 XTX in this game? Are there known fixes, specific driver settings, or BIOS tweaks I should try? Any insights are greatly appreciated!
