I expect that there will be new CPUs and GPUs coming out again in 2026. But have you already built a system with the latest AMD hardware, such as the 9000 series CPUs and the 9000 series GPUs?
I plan to take a short building break for the first half of 2026, unless something comes up that really excites me. My latest build used an AMD 7600X3D CPU and an RX 9060 XT 16GB GPU. That’s a mid-level gaming machine but it works just fine. I don’t usually build systems with the best parts (AMD of course) due to the money required, but sometimes you see a component on sale, and you just go for it.
There’s Al. I was wondering if I’d find you here. I’ve gone through a rough patch with the hobby these past couple of years. I just can’t get back in the groove. I’m contemplating giving away a bunch of my modding and water cooling supplies if you’d be interested. The folks who used to be into LAN parties around here and who would keep their PCs upgraded have turned to other hobbies like tabletop, etc. It’s just insanely hard for young people to participate in the hobby with these prices. I can afford it, but I feel stupid paying these crazy prices, so I just don’t.
I’m just not interested in building the water cooling systems, other than using an AIO for the CPU cooler. I appreciate the offer though. Maybe you should just lay low for a while and see how 2026 starts out. I’m hosting a LAN party in a few days (04 January 2026) but I’m not sure how many gamers plan on attending.
