Merchant’s Stall
The merchant sits beneath his familiar purple canopy, carefully examining something with a magnifying glass. As you approach, he quickly hides it beneath a velvet cloth.
“Ah! Just the adventurer I was hoping to see!” He leans forward, his hood concealing whatever expression might be lurking beneath it.
“I purchased this peculiar fragment from a traveler who claimed it belonged to an extraordinary device. Apparently, its former owner could use it to command creatures far larger than himself.” He pauses.
“Rather impressive, considering the fellow who sold it to me couldn’t even command a reasonable price.”
With a flourish, he removes the cloth and presents his latest acquisition.
