Hi! I have been having issues with my new RX9070XT since I changed it from a GTX2070. Here is the full report after a lot of testing! Please help me
GPU: AMD RX 9070 XT
Driver: 26.3.1 (tested also on 26.5.1, same issue)
CPU: Intel Core i7-13700KF
Motherboard: B660M
RAM: 32GB DDR4 3600 MT/s (2x16GB, dual channel)
OS: Windows 11
Monitor setup: 1x 2K 144Hz (main) + 2x 1080p 144Hz, all connected via DisplayPort
PSU: Thermalright SG-850 850W
Issue Description:
Since installing the RX 9070 XT (replacing an NVIDIA RTX 2070), I experience constant grey screen flickers and severe frametime spikes in all games. The previous GPU had no issues on the same system.
Symptoms:
- Grey full-screen flickers during gameplay (affects entire display output, not just the game window)
- Severe frametime spikes: average 14-157ms depending on the game (should be ~7ms at 144fps)
- GPU clock capped at ~1612 MHz in League of Legends (expected 2500+ MHz)
- Occasional full freezes lasting 1-2 seconds
HWiNFO data collected during gameplay:
League of Legends (DX12, Borderless):
- GPU Temp: 42-48°C ✓
- GPU Clock: max 1612 MHz (expected 2500+) ✗
- Frametime avg: 14-43ms (should be 7ms) ✗
- Frametime spikes >8ms: 92-99% of all frames ✗
- PCIe Link Speed: 16 GT/s ✓
PUBG:
- GPU Temp: 46-71°C ✓
- GPU Clock avg: 2756 MHz, max 3256 MHz ✓
- Power avg: 273W / max 342W ✓
- Frametime avg: 157ms, max 2006ms ✗
- Frametime spikes >8ms: 70% of all frames ✗
Troubleshooting already performed:
- Clean DDU reinstall tested on both 26.5.1 and 26.3.1 drivers
- Tested with 1 monitor and 3 monitors (same result)
- Shader cache cleared
- Resizable BAR: Enabled
- Windows power plan: Ultimate Performance
- GPU set to High Performance in Windows Graphics settings
- HAGS disabled
- BIOS version: F34 (December 2025, latest)
- DX12 enabled in League of Legends
- All games set to High Performance GPU in Windows settings
The issue does not occur with the previous NVIDIA RTX 2070 on the same system.
This appears to be a driver compatibility issue between RDNA 4 and Intel 13th gen platform. Please investigate.
